The Sauce Gene Explained!

The Sauce gene is a Fire type of animal that like NERD's Lucifer Gene makes much more radical looking combos than it's Fire counterparts. From what I have been told both the Lucifer Gene and Sauce Gene originated from Amir (yellowbellyball.com). Raphael Martinez (who did many of the NERD videos including the Lucifer Gene stuff and has seen my Sauce stuff in person) has told me that he thinks they are the same thing. I will leave that for you to determine on your own after seeing what the Sauce Gene produces.

In 2010 I purchased what was supposed to be Spark from Amir, but when bred to Yellow Bellies it produced combos instead of Pumas. We talked it over and after him seeing the Yellow Belly combos in person he realized he had made a mistake with the animal I had received from him. Like the true professional he is he did right by me and reimbursed me to my satisfaction for the mistake. He also offered to buy a few of them at very good prices. I declined at the time wanting to find out just what was going on with them. This is that animal that ended up being the original "Sauce".

The Yellow Belly combos I produced were nicknamed "Hot Sauce" by my friend Whitney DelRosso after she saw them. I told her the history of them and she wanted some of them and helped me find other customers that would also be interested in them. She really promoted them well and what I originally thought might be a total loss turned into a fun new project. You have to realize at that time we had no idea what we were working with but later on when we figured it out we decided to name the single gene "Sauce".

This is the Sauce Yellow Belly Combo (Hot Sauce) that Whitney named.

In 2014 I bred the original male to one of his offspring and I produced the following animals.

Super Sauce Clutch

There are two Hot Sauce and two Super Sauce the Super Sauce being a Black Eyed Leucistic. I then knew it was a Fire type animal. So far every Super Sauce produced has been pure Pied white in color with absolutely no yellow anywhere.

Here is a picture of Two Sauce Yellow Bellies and a Fire Yellow Belly produced in 2014 that shows how different they are. The Fire YB is nice but the Sauce versions blow it away. Check out that flaming.

Hot Sauce and Fire YB

Now that you have seen the Yellow Belly Combo this is the first Pastel Sauce I produced. In my opinion it is much better looking than a regular Firefly.

In the 2015 breeding season some of the other breeders that invested in the project started producing some very cool combos. One of the first was Whitney DelRosso and her Husband Joe Nacho (who where instrumental in getting this project going), when they hatched out this incredible Mojave Sauce Yellow Belly.

In the same clutch was this Mojave Sauce. I would like to see Fire do this. LOL

Later on in the season Guillermo Gutierrez a breeder in Mexico that was one of the initial investors produced the first Sauce Fire Combo. This proved Sauce was compatible with Fire as the breeding produced a Black Eyed Leucistic. This one had some color on it no doubt influenced by the Fire gene.

Guillermo also produced this incredible looking Lesser Sauce. I am going to have to do this one myself, it is truly outstanding.

The next combo produced was this incredible Pastel Sauce Yellow Belly once again produced by Whitney and Joe. Firefly Yellow Bellies are nice but this one is off the charts.

Pastel Sauce Yellow Belly

Jump to 2016 and I was able to produce a few more new combos. I bred a King Pin (Pastel Lesser Pinstripe) to a Hot Sauce and produced the following animals. The first one up is this incredible Pastel Lesser Pinstripe Sauce.

Next one up is a Pinstripe Yellow Belly Sauce.

This one is a Pinstripe Sauce.

So there you have it the history of the Sauce Gene so far, are you ready to take the next step?
